How good’s the wind?

Acciona came to us with a simple request.

“Hey team… it’s Global Wind Day, and we’re a wind turbine company.
We’ve got no budget… think we can do something?”

Our solution was to celebrate the wind by thanking it.
Not just for the power it provides to our communities, but also for its ability to power play.

And what’s more playful than a paper plane?

The Flying Press Ad

On Global Wind Day, we ran a double-page spread in local papers where we have wind farms.

But this wasn’t an ordinary press ad. You could fold this one into an Acciona-branded paper plane.

Patrice Liam, lead designer of the project had this to say on how it came together.
"Did you know that in order for a plane to fly, the airspeed below the wing should be faster compared to the airflow through the top of the wing?
This is the simple aerodynamics of how a plane flies.
The design thinking was built around that fact, so I chose to differentiate the graphics to represent fast and slow air flow."

Social Video

To support the press ad, we also created a social video demonstrating how to fold the plane, which ran across social media on Global Wind Day.

Engaging the community

We also hosted a series of paper plane competitions in schools across the region, using a downloadable version of our design.
